If you’re interested in checking your eligibility for the Solar Scheme, follow these steps:
- Open your phone’s messaging app and check your inbox.
- Type your electricity bill reference number and your CNIC (ID card) number.
- Send this information in a text message to 8800.
If you’re selected through the PITB lottery draw, you will receive an SMS notification. After that, your details will be verified by the district administration and your electricity company (DISCO).
Punjab Govt Approves Funding for the Roshan Gharana Program
During a meeting of the Standing Committee of Finance and Development, the Punjab government authorized funds for the Chief Minister Roshan Gharana program. The program’s goal is to provide solar systems to 100 protected customers, transforming access to sustainable energy and reducing dependency on traditional power sources.
The event highlighted the government’s success in bringing inflation down from 36% to 17%, noting that this is a significant step toward energy security and sustainability for the most vulnerable.
Roshan Gharana Program Distribution starting from August 14
The Punjabi government intends to introduce a solar panel financing program for the general public, providing up to 500 units at convenient installments. The plan has been finished and simplified, and a pilot project is already in progress. The Solar PV App will be used to monitor the system both online and at different places. After a successful test run evaluation, the program will be introduced on August 14. Eligibility can be verified by texting the CNIC and bill reference numbers to 8800. Upon verification of their credentials by DISCOs and district administration, successful applicants will get an SMS notification.
Commencing on August 14, Independence Day, the Punjab government intends to provide free solar panels to homes using up to 200 units of electricity per month. Solar panels will be provided to customers in the 200–500 unit range at a 10% discount, with the Punjab government covering the remaining 90% of the cost. Banks will oversee the distribution of the interest-free payments, which will be spread out over a period of five years.

50-500 Unit Electricity Consumers – Roshan Gharana Program Registration To Be Started Soon
The “Roshan Gharana Program” program, which intends to supply solar panels to homes with power units between 50 and 500, has received approval from Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab. Residents can lessen pressure by paying in installments over a five-year period beginning in July. 90% of payments will be made by the government, with the remaining 10% going to the customers. How to Registration for the Roshan Gharana Program
Solar panels will be provided on an installment plan, with families verified before installation. To apply, send your electricity bill and ID card number to 8800. If you win the draw, you will need to pay 25% of the initial cost, without interest, to the government. Installations will take place between September and October.
A draw will be conducted for those who complete the registration process, and government workers will install the solar panels in the homes of the selected winners. Registration is not yet available until the system is fully set up.

Roshan Gharana Program Eligibility Criteria
The government has set certain eligibility criteria for participants who want to benefit from the solar system program. To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

- You must live in Punjab.
- Your monthly income must be less than 60,000 rupees.
- You should not be employed by the government.

Second Phase – Targeting Less Developed Areas
- Phase 2: The project will then expand to other less-developed districts across Punjab. This ensures that more families can transition to clean energy.
